Eligibility
Eligibility (For 2011 Admission)
1. Passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination in 2010 or appearing in 2011.
2. Also candidates satisfying at least one of the following three criteria may apply:
Examination
All teaching activities will be based on a semester system accompanied by vigorous teacher-student contact time through research, journal clubs, seminars and colloquia. There will be continous evaluation of students performance both in Theory and Lab.
End semester examinations for each session would be held in December and April.
Scholarships
Fellowship to 5 years' integrated Masters Programme (M.S.)
Students admitted to 5 Years' Integrated M.S. Programme will receive a monthly fellowship of Rs.5000/- called "INSPIRE fellowship" from Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India.
Hostel
Hostel is located at the Mohanpur campus of IISER-Kolkata. The residence at the Hall is compulsory for all students. The students are required to share the hostel rooms and there is a separate hostel for girls. The dining hall, the reading room and the TV rooms are common to all. One of the academic staff members is the Warden to take care of the welfare of the students.
Placement and Training
Through liaison with research laboratories under the Depts. of Atomic Energy, Space, Science and Technology, and Biotechnology, as well as Council of Scientific & Industrial Research and research centres of various multinational companies, opportunities will be created for job placement for students on the basis of campus interviews.
