Research Interest

• Synthesis and characterization of discrete high nuclearity metal clusters with magnetic ground state and their encapsulation in diamagnetic polyoxometalate frameworks. Probing the potential of these molecules also as catalysts.
• Tunning activity of metalloproteins and incorporation of metal clusters in protein clefts; the extension of this knowledge to design novel homogenous and heterogenous catalysts, monitoring their structural aspect using TEM, SEM and EXAFS.
• Synthesis and charaterization of cytotoxic small molecules active towards sequence specific DNA binding and cleaving (e.g. telomeres) and for their potential as anti-cancer anti-microbial agents.
• Enhancing the selectivity of complexes cytotoxic towards cancer cells by making bio-conjugates using peptides or proteins (e.g. using proteins like transferrins for whihc majoirty of cancer cells have more receptors).
