Syllabus
Course Outline: The vector nature of electromagnetic radiation - Polarimetry formalisms.

Propagation of electromagnetic waves in (a) conducting media (b) anisotropic media and (c) inhomogeneous media.

Non-linear effects in wave propagation in dispersive media.

Propagation of finite beams and wave packets: Diffraction Wave guides and resonant cavities.

Scattering from inhomogeneous media. First order Born approximation.

Scattering by small particles modes of spheres, spheroids, ellipsoids.

Plasmonics and metamaterials.

Prerequisites: Intermediate Electricity and magnetism.
