Kinetic Theory of Gases: The kinetic theory, Derivation of the gas laws, Maxwells distribution of molecular velocities, Collisions in a gas, Viscosity of gases and mean free path, Heat capacity of gases, Equipartition of energy, Thermal conductivity.
Real Gases: Deviations from ideal behaviour, Equations of state for real gases, van der Waals and Virial equation, Reduced equation of state, Compressibility factors, Intermolecular forces, Limiting density.
The Liquid State: Vapour pressure, Surface tension, Viscosity.
The Solid State: Crystals, Laws of crystallography, Crystal systems, Crystal analysis, NaCl and KCl structures, Close-packing in crystals, Lattice energy, Born-Haber cycle, Isomorphism.

Thermodynamics 1
The First Law: Heat and work, Internal energy, The First Law, Reversible-irreversible processes, Enthalpy, Heat capacity, Adiabatic processes, Thermochemistry.
The Second Law: Spontaneous processes, The Second Law, Carnot cycle and Carnot theorem, Entropy and available work, Work function and free energy, Maxwells relations, Clausius-Clapeyron equation, Joule-Thomson coefficient, Chemical potential, Nernst heat theorem, Introduction of Third Law.

Thermodynamics 2
