IISER Kolkata is amongst the top-notch research institutes in India. It represents a unique initiative in India
where teaching and education are totally integrated with state-of-the-art research nurturing both curiosity and creativity in an intellectually
vibrant atmosphere of research. With cutting edge interdisciplinary research and a number of well-equipped optics laboratories and researchers
working in various zoners of optical sciences, IISER Kolkata is all set to take the history of SPIE Student chapters to the next level.
SPIE is an international society advancing an interdisciplinary approach to science and application of light. SPIE chapter at IISER-K is an
official organization promoting optical sciences amongst the students of IISER-Kolkata and providing them the privilege to efficiently nurture
their intellectual prowess to take the realm of optics to ever interesting domains.
With the beginning of a new journey in group research, we have already taken significant steps towards kicking the chapter off to a great
start, with over 70 optics enthusiasts. We have a significant number of undergraduate and graduate students working on various research projects
encompassing all aspects of optics and related sciences, under the mentorship of some of the best names in the field, both in India and abroad.
