Research area:

Peptide based therapeutics, Immuno-combination therapy for Cancer, Cancer Nanomedicine, Regenerative Nanomedicine, Designing Hemostat for Bleeding Disorder, Diabetic Wound Care, Computational Biology work in collaboration.

Rituparna Sinha Roy is interested in designing peptide based therapeutics to develope immuno-combination therapy for aggressive breast cancer patients (Indian patent filed; received SERB POWER Fellowship Grant; manuscript under review). She has successfully developed efficient siRNA transporter for designing siRNA based therapeutics to treat aggressive breast cancer (Granted Indian Patent 563755, Granted Indian Patent no. 429562, Publications in Chemical Science 2023, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces 2019, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces 2015 and Chemistry An Asian Journal 2022; received OPPI Women Scientist Award in 2020, Ramalingaswami Fellowship from DBT in 2011). Her work published in Chemical Science in 2023 was covered by Nature India, IndiaBioscience and BioPatrika. Her lab has also designed cancer nanomedicine for metastatic breast cancer patients (Granted Indian Patent no. 444719; Publications in ACS Applied Bio Materials 2022, Advanced Therapeutics 2018 and Bioscience Reports 2022). Her work on designing hemostat (Granted Indian patent no. 527743; Publications in ACS Biomaterials Science and Engineering 2020, RSC Medicinal Chemistry 2020, The Scientific Reports 2017) to treat bleeding disorder was widely covered by media (Nature India, IndiaBioscience, medicare News, The Hindu, The Federal, Biotech Times, OutLook, WIRE (DST), Biospectrum etc). In 2023, she has received BIRAC BIG grant for her proposal to design clinically safe hemostat in the area of “Drug and related areas”. She is also developing wound care for diabetic wound and ischemic disease (Chemistry An Asian Journal 2021, Nanotechnology 2011, PNAS 2010). She is serving as one of the members of Executive Committee of Chemical Biology Society, India and Executive Committee of Indian Peptide Society. She was in the Editorial Advisory Board Member of ACS Applied Bio Materials from 2019-2021. In 2011, she has organized “Therapeutic Angiogenesis” session at Experimental Biology Meeting (American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics). She has been featured in “Women in STEM: Vanguards of India@75, published by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)”.
