In the last few decades carbon dots have emerged to be potential nanomaterials, with high optical emissivity, wavelength tunability and biocompatibility. In this talk I will discuss some of the spectroscopic studies done on carbon dots, aiming towards enhancement of emission in the visible wavelength range and incorporation of dual emitting carbon dots in biological cells for selectively targeted bio-imaging. I will also give an overview of the other research activities carried on in the group.
