| Details: | This talk will cover the major developments in mathematical and physical sciences in ancient and mediaeval India, starting from the Gupta period till the coming of European science, with a focus on some of the most important of the existent works, such as those of Aryabhata, Varaha, Brahmagupta, Bhaskara and Madhava. Their original discoveries as well as the lacunae in their understanding will be examined. Only school-level mathematics is required to follow the talk. |
