| Details: | Kinematical distributions of the top quark carry information on the polarization of the top as well as any possible new physics(NP) present in the decay. Since the top quark almost always decays to b and W, the Wtb vertex is an important place to look for any possible NP associated with the top quark. We construct asymmetries out of the distributions which can be used to constrain simultaneously the polarization and the effect of any NP in the Wtb vertex. All these asymmetries are defined in the lab frame and therefore do not require full reconstruction of the top decay event. We compare different asymmetries for their sensitivities to the top polarization and NP in the Wtb vertex with a focus on the case of highly boosted top quarks. We perform a chi^2 analysis to demonstrate the ability of these asymmetries in constraining both the top polarization and the NP in Wtb vertex. |
