| Description: | [DCS seminar] Professor Anindya Dutta, (Department of Chemistry, IIT-Bombay) -- Excited state processes in molecules and materials |
| Date: | Thursday, May 14, 2015 |
| Time: | 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. |
| Venue: | G08, Lecture Hall Complex |
| Details: | Our recent experiments on the use of fluorescent probes to sudy the water channels in nafion membranes and dye silica nanoconugates will be discussed. The major finding in nafion membrane is the role of electrostatic effects on the proton mobility within these nanochannels and the difference in the properties of commercially available membranes and thin films of nafion, as observed by fluorescence spectroscopy. The dye silica nanoconjugates have potential implication as light harvesting nanoantennae. We will discuss the optimization of conditions required to promote Forster resonance energy transfer in these nanoconjugates. |
