Recruitment of two field assistants, at IISER Kolkata, for biodiversity research in Madhya Pradesh

We require two field assistants immediately for (1) Plant Diversity and (2) Animal Diversity (Butterflies, Birds, and Mammals) assessments to be carried out in Betul, Sehore, Sagar, Raisen and Hoshangabad districts of Madhya Pradesh.

The positions will be based at IISER Kolkata but will require extensive time on field work in Madhya Pradesh. The project on ‘Monitoring Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Enhancement under the Green India Mission’ is supervised by Dr. Robert John Chandran. The project is funded by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Zoology/Botany/Wildlife Science/Life Sciences as pertinent to the respective positions. Ability for field taxonomy of plants/birds/butterflies is required. As it is a short-term project and there is no time to train the field assistants, ecological research experience in the forests of at least one of the target districts: Hoshangabad, Sagar, Raisen, Sehore, and Betul is mandatory for this position.

Desirable Qualifications: Ability to use Surveying compass and Global Positioning System (GPS) device. Proficiency in MS Office.

Age limit: Not more than 27 years, as on the date of publication of this advertisement

Salary: The field assistants will be paid Rs 10,000 per month

Duration: The employment will be for a period of 12 months only.
