Understanding the Brain!

Our primary aim is to gain an overall understanding of human brain functions, cognitive and behavioral performances in real world tasks. A fundamental goal of cognitive neuroscience is to understand how the human brain processes and represents the environment and how these representations are used to guide adaptive behavior and decision making process. We apply state-of-the-art pattern recognition tools to explore the neural dynamics underlying different complex processes of cognition.

Explore
Contextual Information in Natural Scenes
In this project we want to explore the neural correlates involved in encoding the locations likely to contain a searched object in real scenes.
Object Recognition Using Feedback
Here, we seek answer to the question whether there exists a correlation between the neural and behavioural activity at the time of decision making in a visual perceptual task.
Outlier Detection in EEG Data
EEG data are prone to artifacts like muscle noise, eye blinking, line noise etc. Hence it is necessary to devise an efficient algorithm for detection and elimination of such artifacts before proceeding for any further analysis.
Facilitating visual search using the wisdom of crowds
We try to explore how far aggregation rules are successful in combining neural decision variables across multiple brains to predict group decisions.
Detecting neural markers of ASD
We analyse the role of face and emotion processing in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and explore the feasibility of using EEG as a neural marker for detecting ASD.
Systematic study on food craving
We are interested to understand the neural correlates of food craving behaviour (intense desire to consume a specific kind of food) in South-East Asian populations.
