Integrated Bachelor and Master of Science (BS-MS)

Our 5-year BS-MS course is our unique flahship program that aims to build bright minds in cutting-edge scientific and technical disciplines.

Our students undergo synergetic training in core sciences while simultaneously developing techno-computational expertise. This amounts to highly adept undergraduates with the ability to adapt to novel industry requirements. The rigorous curriculum includes both core and elective subjects specially curated to ensure the all-around development of world-class science professionals.

The final year at IISER Kolkata is devoted entirely to a research project imparting critical skills via hands-on experience. This, coupled with research internships and interdisciplinary coursework, produces versatile graduates equipped to handle real-world demands.

The institute offers an integrated MS-PhD program in the disciplines of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics for graduates.

All doctoral students must successfully complete coursework, qualifying examinations, seminars, and a dissertation, as well as participate in the institute's undergraduate teaching program as a part of their training.

Master of Science programme (MP)

The Master of Science (MS) programme is a new programme, launched in the Academic year 2022- 2023 offering a Master’s degree in the department of Chemical science and department of statistics and mathematics in a period of 2 years.

It extends an immersive and flexible learning experience to bright undergraduate students selected competitively from across the country. The programme has an increased emphasis on coursework with research experience gained through a project in the second year. The programme aims to provide young motivated individuals with rigorous training, the desired level of scientific understanding, and a glimpse of global contemporary research at an early stage to enable them to pursue a career in teaching, innovation and scientific research and development.
