This course intends to provide introductory concept of the different principles of Quantum Chemistry.

Syllabus


  • Orbital angular momentum operator: Raising and lowering operators and matrices for spin angular momentum.

  • Schrodinger equation and its solution for a particle on a ring and on a sphere

  • Hydrogenic atom problem

  • Probabilities and the radial distribution function

  • Atomic orbitals

  • Rotation vibration spectra


Prerequisite
The postulates and operators in quantum mechanics, Schrodinger equation.
