Syllabus
This is a mineralogy laboratory course designed to complement mineralogy lecture. The lab
emphasizes hand sample and optical identification of rock forming and ore minerals
Identification of rock forming and ore minerals in hand specimen, understanding crystal morphology
and symmetry using crystal models, the use of the petrographic microscope, and the identifying
characteristics of common minerals in thin section.

Prerequisite
As this is a laboratory course, it is open to Earth Science major students only
