Syllabus
1. Atomic Physics: Hydrogen atom, relativistic corrections (LS coupling, hyperfine structure, Zeeman effect), multi-level atoms, JJ coupling, two level systems Einsteins A&B coefficients, optical Bloch eqns,
2. Optical physics: Principles of lasing, laser resonators, mode locking, Q-switching, angular momentum of light, spin orbit interaction, scattering and plasmonics.

Prerequisite
Intermediate Quantum Mechanics, Basic wave optics
