Syllabus
The proposed course will comprise theory classes, field trips/site visits and laboratory work
(sample collection and analyses) along with data analysis and assignments. It will include
activities related to three broad areas of Environmental Science: i) Soil quality analysis. The
respective activities are i) Soil quality analysis Soil classification, Measurement of real-
time parameters (pH, TDS, ORP), analysis of NO 3 - and PO 4 3- in soil; ii) Water and
wastewater quality analysis visit to a water treatment plant, analysis of alkalinity and
hardness, analysis of Cl - and SO 4 2- , analysis of NO 3 - and characterization of suspended
particulate matter; iii) Air quality analysis visit to an industrial facility/lab facility, analysis
of fine mode aerosol (PM 2.5 ), Analysing greenhouse gas emissions.
