Geophysics:
Plate Tectonics, Tectonics on a sphere, Magnetic field of the Earth and past plate
motions, Gravitational field of the Earth and the density structure of the solid Earth.
Ray paths for laterally homogeneous models, Travel time curves and delay times,
Crustal phases, Whole Earth phases, Inversion of travel time data, Travel time
equation for flat layer and dipping layer, Common midpoint stacking, Receiver
function.
Conductive heat flow, Calculation of simple geotherms, Oceanic heat flow, Model for
plate formation and cooling, Continental heat flow, the adiabat and melting in the
mantle, Convection in the mantle.

Hydrology:
Hydrologic cycle and water budgets, Aquifer characteristics porosity, permeability,
Principles of groundwater flow, Darcy's Law, Steady-state and transient flows, Well
hydraulics, Groundwater drawdown: Theis, Thiem, Jacobs method, Groundwater
Exploration, Geophysical techniques, Pollution in groundwater, Arsenic and Nitrate
