terms: Total Synthesis, Formal Synthesis, Linear synthesis, Convergent synthesis etc. (2 Lectures)
8. Strategic applications of cycloaddition reactions, (hetero) Diels-Alder reactions, sigmatropic shifts,
ring-opening reactions, radical cyclization reactions, oxidation-reduction reactions, advanced C-C
bond formation reactions, and Asymmetric synthesis and catalysis for the synthesis of natural
products, drugs, and designed molecules: (A) Crysanthemic acid and Sirenin, (B) Grandisol, (C) B-
lactam antibiotics: Penicillin, (D)Prostaglandins, (E) Triquinone natural products, (F) Blockbuster
drugs: Latanoprost and Bimatoprost, Oseltamivir (G) Alkaloid natural products: Amaryllidaceae
alkaloids, Securinega alkaloids, Minfiensine, Vincorine.
