Elements of photogrammetry, elements of photo-interpretation, electromagnetic spectrum,
emission range, film and imagery, sensors, spectroscopy and satellite images, spatial and temporal accuracy, satellite motion and row/path information, Elements of image analysis, Microwave remote sensing, Digital Elevation Model, Hyper spectral images, applications to earth sciences. Course Content: Geological interpretations of air photos and imageries. Geographical Information System (GIS)- data structure, attribute data, thematic layers and query analysis. Hands on work on Geographical Information System (Arc GIS) software - data structure, attribute data, thematic layers and query analysis. Use of Geographic Information system (GIS) software for mapping and collation of related information for plotting on the map; various analyses using Arc GIS software (ERDAS). subsurface flow and transport, emphasizing on the role of groundwater in the hydrologic cycle, the relation of groundwater flow in geologic structure, hydrochemistry, and the management of contaminated groundwater. Development in geomorphology. Historical and process Geomorphology. Processes weathering, pedogenesis, mass movement, erosion, transportation and deposition. Geomorphic processes and landforms fluvial, glacial, eolian, coastal and karst. River forms and processes stream flow, stagedischarge relationship; hydrographs and flood frequency analysis. Quaternary dating methods, radiocarbon, Uranium series, Luminescence, Amino- acid, relative dating methods. |
