| This course will introduce the basic concept of economics. The objective is to equip students will skill to
understand the functioning of an economy. Two core areas of economics will be covered Microeconomics: Utility, consumption decisions, price and income effects on demand. Production, cost of production, market structute, perfect competition, monopoly, price determination, supply curve. Macroeconomics: GDP determination, aggregate demand, inverstment, government expenditure, multiplier effects, interest rate determination, fiscal policy, monetary policy. The course will also touch upon the major issues of Indian economy: macro economic indicator, government revenue, taxation, deficit. |
