Preamble
This introductory laboratory course will provide students a basic and broad hands-on experience on techniques and methods used in biology. These will span studies across scales (cellular to organismal). Students will learn basic microscopy, culturing bacteria, and basic estimation methods.

Syllabus
Safety protocol and quantitative methods in biology
Basic Cell Biology: Microscopic observation of eukaryotic cells (plant cells (onion peel), cheek epithelial cells); Plasmolysis and deplasmolysis of onion cells
Microbiology: Isolation of single colony and Gram staining
Spectrophotometric estimation of DNA and DNA gel Electrophoresis
Diversity in natural populations at Macro (Alpha diversity in birds/plants)
Blood group determination
