The IISER Kolkata Seismological Observatory has been setup as a research facility for Solid Earth
Studies within the Department of Earth Sciences. The observatory has three major components:
(i) Permanent broadband 3-component seismograph station
(ii) Computational Seismology Laboratory
(iii) Seismic Tomography Laboratory
The broadband observatory was inagaurated on 18 November 2010 and is located within the IISER Kolkata main campus in Mohanpur. In addition to the permanent
observatory, we operate temporary seismograph networks in the Himalaya and the Bengal Basin for seismotectonic studies.
