IISER Kolkata, Sate of the Art, Animal Facility (AF) is hosting a “Certificate Course (Hands On Training) On Basics Of Laboratory Animal Handling (Mice), & Research”, to be held Every Two Times a Month in between 1st to 7th & 15th to 21st of every Year. The hands-on training is aimed towards enhaning the knowledge and ability of researchers in “handling small animals (mice),ethics, basics of animal house management, different research methodologies towards animal research & future perspectives of inter-disciplinary & multi- disciplinary research opportunities”
We are organizing a short term, 7 days certificate course to provide basics & hand on training on:
1) Animal Handling Techniques
2) Histopathology Techniques
3) Molecular Biology Techniques
4) Different Imaging Techniques
The hands-on training will be accompanied by theoretical lectures on the principle, applications and advances of these tools and techniques. Our overall objective is to make students and early-career investigators conversant in laboratory animal handling techniques, ethics & care, as well as research opportunities.
In addition, this training will help students think of alternative careers by providing the basis for them to become experts in animal handling, histopathology and different imaging techniques that are in high demand in current research facilities.
This course can create career opportunities abroad
IISER-Kolkata was established in 2006 as autonomous institute for higher education by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The basic idea of IISER is to create research Universities of the highest caliber in which teaching and education will be totally integrated with the state of the art research. IISER-K has a vibrant campus with strong faculty members of repute and supportive non-teaching staff members. The students pursuing various degrees are among the best in the country and have established a commendable culture.
IISER-K, Animal Facility is registered by the “Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA)”, a body of Government of India. The “Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC)” evaluates and approves all the conduct of animal experiments as per CPCSEA rules & regulations. The Animal facility, facilitates animal research of immune-competence and suppressive small animals under a well established “Animal Bio-Safety Level 2 (ABSL2)” state of the art facility. The facility is well equipped with modern instruments as per scientific standards, well trained Technical Staffs & Scientific Staffs'
The workshop is aimed towards providing hands on training to young students & researchers in “handling small animals (mice),ethics, basics of animal house management, different research methodologies towards animal research & future perspectives of inter-disciplinary & multi- disciplinary research opportunities”. In addition, the workshop also aims to put forward an effort in minimizing the gap between inter disciplinary & multi disciplinary research opportunities for the well being of human kind. Participation will enhance knowledge of science and contribute in developing multi dimensional research ideas and opportunities. Participants with a certificate of participation can add to their skills, which can boost up their openning & opportunities abroad for higher studies.
