IISER Kolkata is hosting the “ Karyashala (Workshop) on advanced bio-analytical methods and applications-2022” supported by SERB to be held between 06th June to 12th June 2022. The hands-on workshop will be followed by Outreach Activity on advanced microbiology education and teaching to be held in OOTY from 15th June to 19th June 2022.
We are organizing a 7-day hands-on workshop wherein we will cover new advances in: 1) In-vivo Imaging, 2) Modern techniques in Histology; in situ cell type and tissue identification, 3) Mass Spectrometry, ITC, and HPLC, 4) Fluorescence Microscopy, and 5) Flow-cytometry. The hands-on training will be accompanied by theoretical lectures on the principle, applications and advances of these tools and techniques.
Our overall objective is to make students and early-career investigators conversant in cutting edge tools and techniques, their scientific questions and move the research field forward in new and exciting directions and dimensions. In addition, this training will help students think of alternative careers by providing the basis for them to become experts in modern tools and techniques that are at high demand in current research facilities.
We expect that about 50-60 National and International participants will participate in this meeting. The hands-on training will be followed by Outreach activities on advanced microbiology education and teaching, and the exchange of thoughts and ideas between different countries.
Ooty is popularly known as Queen of Hill Stations. It is also known as the Blue Mountains and is one of the
most beautiful hill stations located in South India. Ooty is located about 7,500 feet above Sea level. The
mountain range found in this region is popularly known as the Nilgiri Mountain region. Ooty is exactly
located in the tri-junction of three states Karnataka, Tamilnadu, and Kerala. Ooty became so famous because
of its excellent scenic beauty and climatic conditions. Towering mountains, sprawling tea gardens,
splendorous Flower Gardens, nature's gift of greenery everywhere, a beautiful climate with raining clouds
all the time, amazingly awestricken lakes are the way one can describe the beauty of Ooty. Ooty is an
amazing tourist destination that has its charm and glory throughout the year as well as in all seasons. But the
most ideal time to visit Ooty is from March to June. Ooty is also known for its rich history and it is the
epitome of the maintenance of ethnic culture and manifestations of ethnic identity in the life stories of
the Toda people. It came under the rule of the East India Company at the end of the 18th century. The
economy is based on tourism and agriculture, along with the manufacture of medicines and photographic
film. Places of attraction include Gardens and parks, Lakes and dams, Tribal huts and museums, Nilgiri
Mountain Railway, Historical buildings, and a Tea Factory.
The conference will be held from the 15 th of June 2022 to the 19 th of June 2022. Participants may book
their tickets accordingly. Based on the individual interest of the participant additional tours in and
around Ooty with additional cost may be arranged post-conference.
