Research Interest:

Our laboratory investigates how chromatin regulators interpret epigenetic and cellular signals to control gene expression and cellular states in health and disease. We are particularly interested in how these proteins recognize DNA methylation and histone post-translational modifications (PTMs), interact with other cellular factors, and translate these molecular interactions into changes in chromatin function and transcription. We also investigate how cellular signals and stress influence the activity, interactions, and genomic localization of these proteins, and how these changes contribute to cellular adaptation and disease. To address these questions, we combine mechanistic biochemistry, protein engineering, chemical biology, proteomics, mammalian cell biology, genomic approaches, and bioinformatics. Through these multidisciplinary approaches, we aim to uncover how chromatin regulatory mechanisms control transcriptional programs and how their dysregulation contributes to diseases such as cancer and neurological disorders.
