Director's Message

Prof. Soumitro Banerjee Institutes of higher learning and research have a stellar role to play in modern society. They train the next generation of leaders poised to advance the country in science, technology and mathematics. To cultivate a sense of excellence among the students, these institutions must themselves excel in every area where they have a footprint.

The IISER system was created by the then Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education) to achieve excellence in the basic sciences.

IISERs Admission Test (IAT) 2024
Prof. Jayasri Das Sarma, along with her PhD student, Mr Madhav Sharma, DBS, have been selected as a recipient of the 2024 American Association of Immunologists Laboratory Travel Award. This grant will support Prof.Das Sarma and Mr Madhav Sharma to defray expenses associated with attending the AAI Annual Meeting – IMMUNOLOGY 2024 – held May 3-7 in Chicago, USA.
The Anushandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) has invited Prof. Jayasri Das Sarma, DBS to participate in the ASEAN-INDIA Women Scientists Conclave (AIWSC), 24-26 April 2024 Singapore, which will be co-organized by Singapore’s Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) with India’s Department of Science & Technology and Anushandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) with the support of the ASEAN Secretariat.
The 11th Convocation of IISER Kolkata will be held on 20 June 2024, Thursday. Prof. Rohini Godbole will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
