Junior Research Fellow position in Terai Grassland Ecology, Manas National Park, Assam
A Junior Research Fellow position is available in a Project investigating life histories and growth-defense tradeoffs in grass species of Manas Terai Ecosystem, lower Assam.The position is funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of DST, Govt. of India. The position will be based at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, but the Fellow will have to spend extended periods on field work in Manas National Park. The project will involve extensive field-based of studies of the distributions of grass species, ecophysiological measurements, and laboratory chemical analyses. Candidates with experience in field botanical research in tropical grasslands or forests, ecological knowledge on plant life histories, competition and succession, would be preferred.
The initial appointment will be for a one-year, and extendable to a total of 2 years based on performance and research interests. Fellowship will be per SERB-DST guidelines, which is Rs. 31,000/- per month plus applicable HRA per SERB-DST Rules.

Qualifications: Candidates should have M.Sc./M.Phil./M.Tech in Biological Sciences/Ecology/Botany/Environmental Science/Geography/Forestry/ or closely allied subjects, with at least 55% marks, and should have qualified at least one national level exam such as NET-LS, GATE, JGEEBILS, or equivalent exams.
