Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position


Applications are invited from the citizens of India for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position for the sponsored project in the Department of Chemical Sciences, IISER Kolkata. This temporary position is initially for a period of one year and tenable only for the duration of the project. The requisite qualification, experience, etc. are given below:

Project and Job description

Study the effect of various parameters on the optical properties of poly(methyl methacrylate). Candidates having research experience in polymer synthesis and characterization will be preferred.


M.Sc./MS in Chemistry with 1st class or equivalent.

Qualification in at least one of these exams: CSIR-UGC NET (including LS); GATE; national-level exams conducted by DST /DBT /DAE /DOS /DRDO /MHRD /ICAR /ICMR /IIT /IISc /IISER.

Age limit

Upper age limit: 28 years as on the day on which the application is made. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes/tribes/OBC, women and physically handicapped candidates.

The candidate has to make logistics provision for the online interviews. The decision of the selection committee will be final. The selected candidate may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of tenure, if performance till date is not deemed satisfactory.
