Inviting application for the position of Project Fellow in MoES project

 

Applications from highly motivated candidates are invited for a position of Project Fellow (one) to work in the MoES funded project ‘Attenuation structure of J&K Himalaya using Coda-Q tomography'. The objective of the project is to quantify seismic attenuation in the Jammu and Kashmir Himalaya using local earthquake waveforms recorded by a network of broadband seismological stations. The project position will be initially for a period of six months but could be extended subject to satisfactory performance.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geophysics/Geology/Earth Sciences

  2. Physics and Mathematics as subsidiary/pass subjects in Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).

  3. Minimum of 55% marks in M.Sc.

Desirable Experience: Prior knowledge of UNIX/Linux computing, shell scripting, Fortran/ Matlab programming and use of Mapping Tools (e.g. GMT) is highly desired.
 

Other Information:

Final year M.Sc. students (whose results are awaited) can also apply. However, before joining the position results must be declared and must meet the above essential qualification.

The salary for the Project Fellow will be Rs. 25000 per month (consolidated) as per the rules.
